Dr.Lupu is the owner and founder of The Montreal Bird and Exotic Animal Hospital, and has been practicing avian and exotic medicine for twenty-five years. She is a diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners. This organization has certified her as a board certified specialist in avian practice. Dr.Lupu is committed to sharing her wealth of knowledge and experience with our staff and can be often seen drawing diagrams and explaining medical conditions to our receptionists, technicians, veterinarians and interns from various veterinary and technical schools.

Aside from her private practice, Dr.Lupu teaches avian medicine to third and fourth year veterinary students at the veterinary faculty of University of Montreal. She is also involved in research, and writes articles for various journals and newspapers. She enjoys lecturing on different topics, parrot behaviour being one of her keen interests. Balancing her desire to learn with the desire to make a difference, Dr.Lupu also contributes her time to worthwhile causes such a Doctors Without Borders, local zootherapy projects and by mentoring recently graduated veterinarians.

Since graduating from the University of Montréal Dr.Beaulieu has worked exclusively with birds and exotic animals. She joined our team of veterinarians in 1994 and since then has happily undertaken a full time schedule of consultations, surgeries, house calls, lab analysis and even emergency services. We have relied on Dr.Beaulieu and her cool headed nature during the last 13 years as the clinic has undergone a few staff changes and some major renovations.
When Dr.Beaulieu isn't caring for a bird at work she is out looking for them in the tree-tops, snowshoes strapped to her feet and binoculars hanging around her neck. Her particular love of raptors comes from her school years at the St.Hyacinthe raptor clinic where she began working with all sorts of birds of prey. Unlike those birds of prey, Dr. Beaulieu owns the most extraordinary cat: she loves and has happily shared her home, food dishes and even favourite chair with many parrots...photos even show them snuggled up together for a nap! It must run in the family.

Chances are if you have called the clinic in the last fifteen years, you have spoken with Bonnie. And if you have been in to see us, she probably knows your pet by name. Bonnie oversees all matters pertaining to customer service. Years of professional experience help her balance the "busyness" at our reception area, and no matter how busy she may be, she will always tell you not to be shy to call with any concern you might have.
Bonnie's love of all things living extends to her home that has no shortage of furry and feathered family members. Her pets are mostly rescued souls that have found a permanent retreat and abundant love living with Bonnie and her soul mate Michael. If she is not caring for one indoors, you might find Bonnie admiring the flocks of wild birds that feed at one of her many backyard feeders and bird baths.

Liz's love for animals and dream of becoming a veterinarian brought her to our hospital seeking knowledge and hands-on experience. We quickly adopted Liz who moved from a volunteer position to technician and has been there ever since. Liz and her husband have a household of avian friends,as well as a cat and bunny all of which needed a loving home.

Clients know Liz since she spends a lot of time answering all kinds of question they may have, often finishing her shift late because she has spent time reassuring a concerned pet owner...she can't help herself, she has the world's biggest heart.

Amelie graduated from Animal Heath Sciences in 2003 and joined our team shortly afterwards following an internship at our clinic. Her ability and desire to be involved quickly saw her promoted to head technician at our hospital and she is meticulous about her work. Our hospitalized patients benefit from her expert care. Amelie discovered her passion for exotics during college internships as well as through a previous job in a pet store, she has since adopted a few feathered friends and fostered many more...Amelie definitely knows how to communicate the love and care she feels for all her patients.

Our technical team has been infused with new blood this year via the addition of Tanya, who is completing her Masters degree in entomology and has decided to work in the area she loves: exotic pets. Tanya's link to the clinic began through the Montreal SPCA where she launched the Exotic Animal volunteer department in 2006. She continues to volunteer there every Sunday, and somehow finds time to care for all her own bunnies, cats, and a cockatiel. If she is has any free time, you might find her looking for bugs in a nearby forest.

Kerry is our newest technician and receptionist with a bubbly personality and big heart. She grew up on a local farm and has a huge love of animals. The family farm has since turned into a refuge for everything from Canada geese to bunnies, and her future plans include owning her own small farm one day. In the meantime Kerry is integrating her training at the clinic with plans to continue her education in Animal Health. Oh yes, and she would like to go on a Safari!

Stephanie is our behind the scenes staff member. A technician at the clinic for over seven years, she now works in close conjunction with Dr.Lupu, concentrating her time on research projects, as well as running our website.

Stephanie spends her free time enjoying her home in the country with her family, and is in her last year of study to complete her Bachelor's Degree in Biology.
